Mia Bella Trattoria Restaurant Review: Chef-restaurateur Youssef Nafaa has a collection of four Mia Bella Trattorias, including this popular downtown outpost. Lunchtime brings a fine house salad and items such as chicken crêpes. Starters include grilled calamari; the unique strudel di funghi formaggio (wild mushroom with goat cheese); and an artful capesante con porri, a medley of sautéed scallops with leeks in a roasted jalapeño pesto sauce. Also available are fish, lamb, veal, beef, chicken and pasta dishes. Finish with the crème brûlée or Nafaa's own tiramisu. The wine list is affordable and filled with sturdy Italian selections; house wines by the glass are a steal. Weekend brunch can be crowded, but it’s worth waiting for a table to try Bisteca Benedetto, a pan-seared filet of beef over two poached eggs with fruit and roasted potatoes.
