| Well-known chef-about-town Melissa Ballinger has opened her very own charmer, a bright, sunny pizza place in the heart of Bethesda’s restaurant row. Tops on the menu are the wood-fired pies---ten in all---plus fancier entrées such as roasted pork loin, salmon and chicken. Lunchers looking for lighter fare can splurge on imaginative salads and sandwiches, and everyone should start off with at least one of Ballinger’s memorable appetizers, including mac ‘n’ cheese and classic deviled eggs. A sensible chef who cooks with passion and flair, Ballinger has devised a menu that taps into our inner child, and leaves us wishing for more, including one of her ultra-dense cupcakes for dessert. A meal here---from deviled eggs, spinach salad, Alsace pizza with Gruyère and caramelized onions, and a rich cupcake---is the ultimate in contemporary comfort food. |
