| Owner Gian Franco Bertolino has re-created Northern Italian specialties for his health-conscious Newport Coast neighbors by preparing this filling cuisine without butter or cream. Located in the upscale Crystal Cove Promenade, Modo Mio Cucina Rustica has a warm, inviting family atmosphere. What sets this shopping center restaurant apart from others of its ilk is the quality of ingredients that go into the simple fare. This detail is fleshed out quite nicely in the restaurant's abundant antipasti offerings. For mains, free-range chicken, beef and fresh seafood are the basis for everything. Pasta is made in-house. Some come here for the seafood ravioli and gnocchi in tomato pesto. There’s also a good selection of beer and wines by the glass. This restaurant has a sister location in Pacific Palisades. |
