THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mosaic Restaurant Review: Chef/owner Jody Dean kept little of Mosaic’s earlier menu when he bought the place. Sandwiches and salads grace the lunch line-up, and basic, simply prepared dishes hallmark the dinner offerings. The Kobe sliders, which we’ve enjoyed, are still available. Some Mediterranean notes remain, too, in such dishes as nontraditional paella made with chicken and andouille sausage, and a gently spicy risotto fritter appetizer that’s rich and filling enough to serve as a main dish with a salad. Southern touches are seen in the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and red pepper sauce. Try the grilled shrimp over Israeli couscous and quinoa salad that’s light on the orange-ginger vinaigrette dressing just as it should be. For dessert, get the chocolate ganache cake. The wine list is quite underwhelming, but the Licia Albariño does well with the seafood. We recommend you bring your own and pay the $20 corkage fee.
