Myconos Restaurant Review: Myconos is an unpretentious hidden gem serving up generous portions of homey Greek dishes. White-washed, stucco walls and a blue ceiling are cheerful nods to the homeland, while small tables covered in quaint checkered tablecloths are reminiscent of a traditional, Italian restaurant. Patches of faux vinery and a bar covered by a hokey latticed roof only strengthen the eatery's cozy atmosphere. Service can be spotty and, as reservations aren't accepted, wait times for tables and sometimes food can run long. Soulful dishes, however, such as the pastitsio---dense layers of pasta held together with a rich meat sauce and oozing with creamy, sinful béchamel---keep the place packed. Hearty Mediterranean platters come piled high with spanakopita, hummus, and buttery fried falafel patties with delicate coating. Dolmades are plump and tender. In many instances, these down-home dishes have the chops to beat out those prepared at fancier establishments. The wine and beer lists are heavy with Greek imports, but forego the mineral-heavy wines. For dessert, the standard-issue baklava is a lovely way to finish the night.
