The Portuguese word navio means ship; the restaurant Navio reminds you of a ship, a beautiful one that makes you want to stay on and never disembark. The chef at Navio prefers to say that he prepares Coastal cuisine, rather than California cuisine, in a 1,000-square-foot exhibition kitchen. By that he means that he uses exclusively local ingredients, either from the soil or from the sea. He uses produce grown along the rugged coastline or the day's freshest local catch. There are stories of him sometimes refusing the merchandise when it does not comply with his high standards. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean while you indulge in the tomato terrine with goat chesse, Pacific salmon with baby golden beets, or roast tenderloin of pork with stuffed trotter, and finish with the warm chocolate cake with peach sauce. The wine list is extremely focused on California wines. The service is excellent.
