| With its upscale comfort food offered in an ideal location smack in the heart of Nob Hill, this contemporary bar and grill was bound to be a smash. And so it is. After all, the look is sleek, the crowd young and lively, and the New American menu a nifty mix of smart finger foods and sandwiches. Served in a cone with Chinese black bean sauce and sriracha aïoli, the batter-fried green beans one-up your standard french fries, while smoked mozzarella oozes from the bacon-sprinkled meatloaf (of which even the half-portion is plenty). And the veggie burger is, surprisingly enough, a real treat, made with edamame and mushrooms and spread with ginger-lime mayo. Top it all off with a Belgian waffle beneath Guinness ice cream and Jameson’s whiskey caramel. The bar, meanwhile, is among the first in town to jump on the craft-mixology bandwagon; we’re happy to see vintage cocktails, beer-based concoctions, and fresh fruit syrups making their debut here. |
