Oishii Boston, Boston, MA

Oishii Boston Restaurant Review

: Not all siblings are alike, and the Oishii trio is a prime example. The Chestnut Hill location is tiny, the South End is trendy, and the Sudbury outpost is pricey, but they all deliver the same quality fish prepared with flair. Sushi rolls reign supreme --- tuna is exquisitely fatty; geoduck is a textural wonder; and the omakase is justifiably renowned. Cold and hot appetizers range from Kobe beef carpaccio to steamed edamame, but the real gems are found with the chef’s creations, such as grilled Wagyu beef with shallot saké sauce. The spicy seafood udon noodle dish is filled with shrimp, scallops, fish cake and vegetables, while the signature diamond shrimp is butterflied and stuffed with hotate hokaiyaki. Wash it all down with a lychee martini, passion saketini or glass of Pinot Grigio. For dessert, try the ginger ice cream with splash of Chambord.

Lack of Professionalism and poor customer service
by jules11 on Fri Jan 01, 2016 10:57 am
To whom it may concern,

We work at a firm that prides itself in providing excellent client services, so we understand from a business and a client perspective that mistakes happen. For a restaurant with such recognition, Oishii was nothing but a disappointment. When consumers go to a 4 star restaurant, they expect more than high quality food. Other factors to consider are the customer service, the price, and the ambiance of the restaurant. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service noted during our experience, caused us to leave the restaurant before finishing our meal as the experience was not worthy of the price charged.

From ordering our food to receiving appetizers, the wait staff failed to provide recommendations and to describe the special cocktails, like the Yuuka and the Tea Party. She was only capable of regurgitating the list of ingredients noted on the menu. Then when the busboy came by to collect the empty plates, he knocked over the soy sauce, spilling it all over my coat and my phone. He only returned once to clean the table, and when I mentioned my belongings were soaked, he ran off.

The lack of communication between the internal staff was the result of the poor customer service. It wasn’t until I stood up that someone came by our table. From speaking to the busboy, to the waiter and then to the manager, my belongings continued to bathe in soy sauce. The manager offered to reimburse me for the dry cleaning, but then he left us standing when we said we were ready to leave. He whispered for the waiter to give us the bill. After another five minutes of trying to locate a single staff that would take the bill, our waiter came back and said he would take care of it.

We were expecting a romantic, memorable New Year’s Eve, and all we got was a memorable one. We hope that Oishii works to improve their customer service aspect. But in the meantime, if you are looking for a romantic place with great service and food, you might want to reconsider going to Oishii.
