Osteria Cibo Rustico Restaurant Review: Neighborhood denizens throng to Osteria Cibo Rustico, where they find a reasonably priced, simple Italian-inspired meal and good wine. We suggest starting with a fritto misto of crispy fried shrimp, fish, onions and capers --- a squeeze of fresh lemon is all it needs. We also enjoyed a good veal dish done in a piccata style but without butter; instead, it relies on a lemon-caper wine sauce with grilled onions and garlic to elevate the flavor profile. Mashed potatoes are the perfect accompaniment. Pastas are all dry, so we chose the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and grilled rustic vegetables. But the real meal deal is the gnocchi with a light tomato sauce, a dish that goes straight to the heart. For dessert, try the torta di nonna, an aromatic cake with a lemon freshness that could not be more appealing.
