Pamplemousse Grille Restaurant Review: Pamplemousse Grille chef Jeffrey Strauss worked as a New York caterer before arriving in San Diego. Drop by this casually elegant spot for lunch and enjoy baked goat cheese and oven-roasted shiitakes with seasonal greens, or tomato confit with avocado and crab meat. Dinner gets more sumptuous; we suggest the Fanny Bay oysters on the half shell, mixed grill of game (smoked Muscovy duck breast, lemon thyme quail and baby rack of venison au poivre) and chocolate-pecan bread pudding. Strauss also runs a series of wine dinners each month --- a good value for anyone interested in tasting fine wine and hobnobbing with the beautiful people.
