THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pangaea Restaurant Review: Butch Raphael and Jennifer Hultberg, co-owners and chefs, craft a global approach to enclosing food in bread, whether the result is called a sandwich, a torta, a panino, or bahn mi (Vietnamese). In this bright retro-industrial space, the pair explores the sandwich world. A torta of carne asada, for instance, loads the seared marinated beef between two slices of hoagie roll, layered with lettuce, mayo, tomato, onion, avocado and, if you wish, queso fresco for an additional 50 cents. The cold green tea with it may seem a bit anti-contextual, but its delicious. The Blue Cloud coffee from Vietnam is superior. Butch is part Vietnamese, and Jennifers husband is Korean, so when the specials are structured for end-of-the-week dinners, they usually come from Asian traditions, although Italian also.
