Yummy Italian-style panini in combinations from exotic (dolphin with spicy aïoli, mizuma and tomato on ciabatta) to simple (tomato and fresh mozzarella and basil on focaccia) are griddled to oozing perfection and served warm. Since opening about four years ago, this place has slipped tons in terms of quality and consistency, but it still packs in hundreds of local devotees daily. Warning: the soups are watery and bland; the cold salads are skimpy, expensive and unimaginative. The hallway-like interior is cramped and totally disorganized. Avoid the stale and processed desserts, and expect confusion and lack of eye contact in ordering, obtaining and paying for your meal. Systems are nil here. Paninoteca is expensive considering the portion sizes, and only some of the sandwiches are sensational.
