Pappas Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review: Like the settings of all the Pappas enterprises, this favorite carries a retro flair, here provided by a Western saloon theme complete with wagon-wheel chandeliers and giant bullhorns out front. But the ambience has little to do with the reason people crowd here for lunch and dinner. It's the tender meat. As at all the Pappas restaurants, huge portions are a trademark. That’s especially true of some items that aren't even on the barbecue menu, like the burgers. These half-pound handfuls are fried on a griddle and sandwiched between two butter-toasted bun halves, complete with all the fixings. For our money, these are some of the best burgers in town. Some die-hards insist on watching their waistline when they order two of the most popular items on the menu: the barbecue-stuffed baked potatoes (each weighing in at about two pounds) and the special chef salad (loaded down with your choice of meat). |
