| Parkhouse Eatery is the original restaurant on University Heights' restaurant row. It features a combination of coastal cuisine (from both sides of the U.S.) accented with a variety of global flavors. Breakfast is popular---be ready to wait for a table. Once seated, try the chilaquiles (eggs scrambled with red corn tortillas, spicy chile sauce and Asiago cheese and served with a black bean fritter) and the pumpkin-and-spice pancakes with maple syrup. Lunch is a bit more laid back; we recommend sitting on the patio if possible. Our favorites are the vegetarian treat---a Parmesan-and-cilantro-crusted avocado sandwich with tomatoes and red onions---or the garlic-crusted pork and goat cheese quesadilla. Try to get a table in the cozy hearth room for dinner and enjoy the turkey meatloaf with the indulgent mascarpone-mashed potatoes or chef’s down-home beef stew loaded with braised meat, veggies, polenta cubes and white beans, all topped with blue cheese crumbles. |
