Patisserie Bechler Restaurant Review:
Master pastry chef Gérard Bechler opened Pâtisserie Bechler in 1984. Enjoy a cup of soup in his Alsatian-influenced dining room or al fresco on the enclosed redwood deck. Sandwiches are served Euro-style on house-made breads and are restrained in substance and scope rather than oversized. For a real treat sample one of the quiches --- the potato version resonates. Linger over an espresso and the meringue-topped lemon tart. The "marquise" --- chocolate cake with chocolate mousse --- is light yet richly flavorful. Bechler does it all, from miniature fruit tarts with an iridescent glaze to éclairs with creamy custard filling.
