Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Restaurant Review:

Serving fresh-from-the-ocean seafood takes dedication when your restaurant is in the middle of the continent. Chef and owner Kevin Nashan rises to the logistical challenge. Oysters and shrimp from the raw bar pass the freshness test with flying colors. There’s a definite Cajun influence --- the “house” po' boy with fried oysters is spot-on --- but the more exotic dish in these parts is the lobster roll, served either warm with butter or cold with mayo. Likewise, the authentic clam chowder edges out the gumbo in novelty. Both the lobster boil and the steamed crabs are generous meals, but it’s a good idea to save room for a slice of the seasonal fruit pie. The kid in your group (or in you) will enjoy the shaved ice with house-made syrups in unique flavors like rhubarb or passion fruit. For an adult-style icy treat, order a glass jar of bourbon punch. Nashan’s other restaurant, Sidney Street Café just down the street, is a fine dining destination, but he keeps things simple and family-friendly at this seafood shack.
