THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Pear Tree Restaurant Review:
The Pear Tree’s unassuming Burnaby Heights location just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver belies the fact that it’s one of the Lower Mainland’s most noteworthy dining destinations. With chef/owner Scott Jaeger’s wife and business partner, Stephanie, managing the front of the house, guests are assured a refined dining experience in this sophisticated space. Dishes incorporate local, organic and sustainable ingredients to create a seasonal menu that reflects chef Jaeger's classically grounded culinary approach accented with modern touches. Consider the orange caramelized scallops with double-smoked bacon risotto or the classic flamed gin and ‘Cascade’ tomato soup with chive whipped cream to start. Tempting entrées include pan-roasted Lois Lake steelhead served with pomme Dauphine and butternut squash, and braised Alberta lamb shank with cauliflower fritters and eggplant purée. Also available is a seasonal table d’hôte. Desserts such as the lemon tart with lemon-sour cream sorbet and chocolate ganache on a crisp nut base with salted caramel and orange chocolate sorbet are clear winners. Value-oriented and food-friendly, the international wine list proposes an eclectic reserve collection, too.
