Picco Restaurant Review:

Picco is about as gourmet as a neighborhood pizza joint can get before becoming an all-out dining destination. The name stands for Pizza and Ice Cream Company, and that's just what Rick Katz, former executive pastry chef for Legal Sea Foods, and his crew make daily, along with sandwiches, inventive desserts, and even honest-to-goodness flavored sodas. Pizza toppings include broccoli rabe, arugula salad, homemade Italian sausage and roasted garlic; an Alsatian take on the tarte flambée with shallots, Gruyère, bacon, crème fraîche and sautéed onions and garlic is especially pleasing. Pizzas are traditionally cooked on the crispy side so if you prefer it lightly baked, be sure to let your server know. Daily chalkboard specials feature draft microbrew IPAs, lagers, Belgian-style ales and porters. Regularly changing specials further prove that Picco aims to go above and beyond; haddock tacos are an unexpectedly fresh treat as is the pesto spaghetti. Speaking of treats, an ice cream (dish, cone, frappe or sundae) is a must, with flavors like cardamom, passion fruit, coconut chip and cinnamon.
