| Picco is about as gourmet as a neighborhood pizza joint can get before becoming an all-out dining destination. The name stands for Pizza and Ice Cream Company, and that's just what Rick Katz, former executive pastry chef for Legal Sea Foods, and his crew make from scratch daily---along with sandwiches, inventive desserts, and even honest-to-goodness homemade flavored sodas. Pies see first-class toppings like goat cheese, white anchovies and roasted fennel; the Alsatian with Gruyère, bacon, sour cream and loads of onions and garlic is especially pleasing. Regularly changing specials further prove that Picco aims to go above and beyond; haddock tacos are an unexpectedly fresh treat. Speaking of treats, no one leaves without a prune-Armagnac ice cream cone, Scharffen Berger dark chocolate frappe or the like. |
