| Step up, grab a pencil and order sheet---you pick your burger, bun and toppings at Pine 22. They claim there are “more than 322,000 ways to order” gourmet burgers and sandwiches made from locally raised, grass-fed beef and pork, turkey and chicken (all antibiotic, hormone and chemical free). More confusion when you must pick a patty size; a bun or a bowl; toppings, ranging from simple onions to more daring selections like charred pineapple and mango chutney; and from 22 sauces. If the trimmings overwhelm you, stick to one of the menu combos such as the Cuban with juicy pulled pork, melted Swiss, pickles and ham. Fried sides include jalapeño poppers, but our favorite accompaniment was the crisp sweet potato fries. Once you get through the ordering process, take a seat with a number and food shortly appears at the table. It’s a big dining room, with high windows and a wood floor, so it gets noisy, especially during lunchtime. A good selection of microbrews and half-bottles of wines and Champagne are available. |
