Pizzeria Mozza, Newport Beach, CA

Pizzeria Mozza Restaurant Review

: This Orange County offshoot of the Los Angeles collaboration between Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton anchors the southern end of Newport Beach's Mariners Mile. Aesthetically, it stays true to its L.A. roots, with sleek, minimal woods, clean earth tones and dark accents that echo the original locale's vibe. The ambience is well-suited to enjoying one of the pizzas, which are all prepared in a massive wood-burning oven. The deep roster of pies consists of classic styles interspersed with a few exotic offerings, like one topped with egg, bacon and Yukon Gold potatoes. But there’s more than just pizzas to this dining experience. Guests can also explore crispy yet soft arancini balls, the tricolore salad with Parmigiano Reggiano and anchovy dressing, tagliatelle with prosciutto or an Italian dessert, perhaps the butterscotch budino. Consider, too, snuggling up close to the oven by grabbing a seat at the hearthside bar and selecting a glass of wine from the Italian-centric list.
