Pizzeria Mozza Restaurant Review: This Orange County offshoot of the Los Angeles collaboration between Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton anchors the southern end of Newport Beach's Mariners Mile. Aesthetically, it stays true to its L.A. roots, with sleek, minimal woods, clean earth tones, and dark accents that echo the original locale's vibe. The ambience is well-suited to enjoying one of the pizza selections, which are all prepared in a massive wood-burning oven. The deep roster of pies consists of classic styles interspersed with a few exotic offerings, like one topped with egg, bacon and Yukon Gold potatoes. But there’s more than just pizzas to this dining experience. Guests can also explore starters such as crispy yet soft arancini balls, salads like the tricolore with Parmigiano Reggiano and anchovy dressing, or classic Italian desserts, perhaps the butterscotch budino. Consider, too, snuggling up close to the oven by grabbing a seat at the hearthside bar and selecting a glass of wine from the Italian-centric list.
