Back in 1943, the business of serving pizza took a giant leap forward thanks to Pizzeria Uno. Not surprisingly, just about every celebrity---from rock star to movie star to Brenda Starr (well, maybe her creator)---stops here, or at its sib a block away, when visiting Chicago. There’s good reason: this is a well-constructed pizza, from the crust to the toppings. We like the dough, the cheese is gooey-good, the toppings are fresh, and the sauce is boldly seasoned. Deep-dish pies don't get much better, and in this setting---which is pure Chicago pizzeria, from the checkered tablecloths to the snappy waitstaff----pizza never tasted so good. There are a few seasonal items thrown into the mix, too, so feel free to switch things up with the likes of a fig, goat cheese and broccoli ’za. You may have to wait to get a table, but it's worth it.
