| Many a trip to Santa Fe has been saved with a quick trip into the tiny Plaza Bakery, which began life in 1981 as a Häagen-Dazs ice cream store. In summer, it has cooled the overheated. In winter, it has warmed frozen shoppers. In spring and fall, it has provided just the right pick-me-up for foot-weary tourists. The bread made at this bakery is wonderful---light, crisp baguettes, hearty kalamata olive loaves, buttery croissants. The wrap sandwiches and breakfast burritos are also divine. If you're really hungry try a slice of ham-and-potato quiche or a thick wedge of vegetable frittata. And, of course, top off your quick meal or snack with a scoop of ice cream or white chocolate chip-cranberry cookie. |
