Portland City Grill Restaurant Review: Perched atop "Big Pink" (the U.S. Bancorp Tower), the spacious restaurant boasts a panoramic perspective over the city. Nab one of the coveted window seats if you can. The menu emphasizes Asian fare such as sushi, shrimp tempura, and five-spice Peking duck, but it also incorporates a fair range of steaks, chops and seafood such as fried calamari and crab cakes. Desserts are traditional and range from an upside-down apple pie and a chocolate mousse tart. The lengthy wine list and well-polished servers befit the setting, and the bar is generally packed with members of the “young drinkers' club,” who take advantage of expertly made cocktails and an affordable happy hour food menu. Live piano music adds to the festive atmosphere. The brunch buffet is a hedonistic extravaganza, including "all you can eat chicken and waffles," seafood combos, smoked meat, omelets, salads, and chafing dishes of macadamia chicken. Despite the high prices and fancy food, children are welcome, and the kitchen will split dishes upon request.
