Purple Cafe & Wine Bar Restaurant Review: One of four area Purple Café locations, this Kirkland hot-spot always draws a crowd. The dark wood, wrought iron chairs and cement floor raise the noise level, but patrons don’t seem to mind. Wines by the flight, glass and bottle are available, and knowledgeable servers answer questions and help select appropriate pairings. Small and large plates are creatively designed to complement the wines. Choose from soups, sandwiches and salads, including a roasted beet salad with orange slices and toasted pistachios. Pastas feature lobster mac ‘n’ cheese and a rich wild boar Bolognese. Pizzas lean towards the non-traditional with topping combinations such as red wine-poached pears with toasted walnuts. A heftier entrée favorite is the apple cider-braised pork cheeks with winter squash purée and Brussels sprouts. Sweet finishes range from salted caramels to chocolate mousse and almond cake. |
