| Live Irish entertainment is part of the fun at this pub on steroids that brings true Irish tastes to diners (and drinkers) at Disney’s Pleasure Island. The cavernous space is surprisingly inviting, thanks to four imported antique mahogany bars and handsome furniture crafted on the Emerald Isle. Cold, creamy Irish beers and fine Irish whiskies are a big draw, but the contemporary cuisine, under the direction of Irish chef Kevin Dundon, is surprisingly good. The menu features classics with Dundon’s twist, from fish ‘n’ chips in a light, crisp beer batter to shepherd's pie that is missing the heavy potatoes and gravy; instead it's Colorado lamb and Angus beef with a swirl of creamy potatoes on top. The loin of bacon is glazed with Irish Mist and served with creamy potatoes and braised cabbage. The most-recommended dessert is the Dunbrody Kiss, a decadent chocolate mousse with a crunchy caramel base, drizzled with chocolate ganache. |
