The Regal Beagle might be named after a cheesy "Three's Company" pick-up joint, but this neighborhood bistro is anything but schmaltzy.

Dining room at The Regal Beagle, Brookline, MA

The Regal Beagle Restaurant Review

: The Regal Beagle is unique in Brookline, an area known primarily for funky sushi joints and taquerias. It draws a cross-section of diners with its potent cocktails and wide-ranging menu: young couples on dates, moms with strollers, older couples grabbing a quiet bite. And as for the bites, we recommend the rich appetizer of dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and wrapped in bacon; crab Rangoon empanadas; and lamb chops grilled with mint. As for specialty cocktails, they're all creatively named after "Three's Company" characters---The Ladies' Man, The Flirty Coworker, The Old Landlord, and so on. Portions are generous. Our sole complaint is acoustics. Wooden tables are pushed quite close together and there's not a lot of room to stretch out and relax. It wouldn't be a problem if the Beagle weren't consistently packed. But, alas, it is. And rightly so. The food is uniformly tasty and service is unfailingly friendly.
