Ristorante Il Guscio Restaurant Review:

Il Guscio is located perhaps a 10-minute walk from the center of Florence, away from the crowds, and it’s the reason why it attracts mostly locals and few tourists. Weather permitting, guests may be able to sit on the narrow sidewalk terrace, which doesn’t offer much view-wise, however. The interior is pleasant with a rather nondescript décor, and in the evening tables are set with white linen for more formal dining. As a first course there’s usually a wild boar sauce or rabbit with homemade pasta, but the menu changes often according to what’s fresh at the market. Padella di mare brings an assortment of grilled fish, shrimps and shells served in the pan in which it was cooked. Tuna pairs with pistachio nuts and caramelized onions, while Florentine steak may come sliced with mushrooms or green peppers. Desserts include ice cream with hot chocolate sauce, panna cotta with caramel sauce and almonds, and little pastry shells with fresh fruit and cream. The wine list is adequate, with some very good local wines at reasonable prices.
