THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rivieria Grill Restaurant Review:
When chef-owner John Sheely opened this place in a westside strip center, locals were tempted to shrug it off as another wannabe in a sea of been there, done that. But when fellow restaurateur and neighbor Michael Cordua of the famed Churrascos touted the wonders of Sheelys Mediterranean menu, people listened. Corduas favorite dish, the pepper-dusted Chilean sea bass, became the peoples choice, too. Now housed in the Radisson Suites hotel, the Riviera Grill is a relaxing retreat, bathed in natural light with a rattan-based décor enhanced by the summery colors of green and peach. Start with the pan-seared Prince Edward Island mussels, with andouille sausage, garlic and tomato; or try the katafi-wrapped shrimp, with cucumbers, crisp vegetable salad and lemon citronette. The Riviera offers a range of entree options all studded with stellar sides. The grilled pork chop saddles up next to apple bacon slaw, mashed potatoes and Stilton cheese, while the roasted lamb loin sits atop crisp polenta with baby spinach and goat cheese. Other favorites include angel hair pasta with shrimp and mussels in a roasted tomato-saffron sauce and shrimp and wild mushroom risotto with white truffle essence and smoked bacon.
