THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rocky's Brick Oven Pizza Restaurant Review:
The original Rockys first opened its doors in 1937 in Brooklyn, where the eponymous pie peddlers huge Italian family made up almost the entire staff. Fortunately for us, they relocated to Atlanta in the mid 70s, and quickly carved out a slice of the pie business here. Cords of wood along the outside of the building eventually make their way inside, into the oven where the distinctive flavors help create one of the best pizzas in town. There are those who will eat a Rockys pizza or nothing else. Big booths, reproduction Tiffany lampshades and hand painted scribbles and scrawls along the plaster walls make for an eclectic environment. Pages of pastas are also on the menu, but we prefer the pies, and the Beau Bock stromboli, a calzone stuffed with salami, prosciutto, pepperoni and cheese. Start any meal with their house salad, which sports organically grown greens and marinated vegetables.
