 One of the more atmospheric places to go for lunch, this circular room at the top of Neiman Marcus is a prime destination for ladies who lunch, hungry shoppers, and special occasions with friends. The well-appointed room includes welcoming booths, comfortable chairs upholstered in heavy fabric, an intricate stained glass ceiling from the old City of Paris store, and sweeping views of Union Square. Diners are greeted with a complimentary teacup of consommé and the famous warm popovers with strawberry jam (good luck finding better anywhere else). The menu includes some decadent variations of classic dishes, like delightfully crisp spring rolls are gussied up with hunks of lobster, or a Cobb salad that is rendered irresistible with prawns, bay shrimp and crab. The grande dame of them all is the lobster club, pieces of lobster claw accompanied by smoked bacon, avocado and shallot mayonnaise on slices of crust-less toasted brioche. Ladies modeling couture gowns or sportswear will casually flounce by during lunch, so don't be puzzled when a model comes up to you and starts chatting. The location practically begs for dessert, so don't think twice about the sticky toffee pudding. The Rotunda also hosts an afternoon tea service.
