Rumba Island Bar & Grill Restaurant Review: This sprawling indoor-outdoor Caribbean joint is complete with tiki torches, Bob Marley on the sound system and tropical drinks. The food is more serious than this may indicate, with addictive jerk chicken wings, Scotch bonnet-cheddar corn muffins, bacon-y Jamaican greens and mashed sweet potato. Quesadilla choices include chicken, shrimp or veggie, served Islands-style with Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses, peppers, onions and special sauce. Seafood dishes dominate the extensive menu (fried shrimp, grilled mahi, crab cakes), but the smoky pork ribs are worth a little intense investigation. Even something straightforward like the Rasta Seafood Pasta (mussels, shrimp and crab meat over pasta) proves popular. Service is cheerful and efficient, and the mixologists know their way around fruity rum drinks. |
