Ruth's Chris Steak House Restaurant Review: In its New Orleans birthplace, Ruth's Chris gained fame as a gathering spot for back-slapping politicians, lawyers and deal-making business people. Jacksonville's Southbank location offers a window wall with dreamy views of the St. Johns River and the downtown skyline. Business and sports figures arrive in polo shirts and khakis, but there's also a fair share of locals celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. Among area steakhouses, the restaurant offers the absolute best aged beef, which arrives on a hot plate in sizzling seasoned butter. It's the starters and sides that set it apart from other steak chains, however. You can also get the best, most authentic gumbo in Jacksonville, as well as a distinctive shrimp rémoulade and first-rate bread pudding. Of course, all this comes at a steep price. Everything's à la carte and even with enough-to-share sides, your tab will be breathtaking. |
