Tourists like to dine at Ruth's Chris to experience dramatic views of San Diego Bay from its second story-perch just opposite the Embarcadero---be sure to ask for a table in front. Locals like the place for its high quality steaks, steaks and more steaks. And not normal, run-of-the-mill steaks either---Ruth’s Chris serves meat cut from the top two percent of beef raised in the United States, so prime that it just about wears blue ribbons to the table. Besides a variety of beef cuts, there are lamb and veal chops, chicken, Maine lobsters and ahi, preceded by a large selection of salads (Caesar, caprese and iceberg wedge) and appetizers (crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms). Side dishes, in family-style portions, include baked, fried and mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and thumb-thick asparagus spears. The wine list is written---and priced---to impress.
