THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sakura Japanese Restaurant Restaurant Review

: Sakura's spare, multi-level space is where chef-owner Toshi Sosa offers upwards of 30 kinds of fish for nigiri sushi. Sushi rolls include the crunchy shrimp roll, Cajun crawfish roll and bagel roll (smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado). Shu mai (shrimp dumplings with spicy mustard), shiitake crab cakes, mixed tempura, yakitori, coconut-curry soup and tuna tataki make appearances as well. There are wines and beers plus sak├ęs to pair with the food. Several nights a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), the atmosphere transforms late in the evening and Sakura becomes one of the more popular party places in town. Sosa began offering Midnight Sushi for staff from other restaurants who wanted a bite to eat after leaving work; the community discovered it and there's no turning back. Servers pick the music. The sushi chefs' knives flash as they work furiously to keep up with orders. Punk rockers sit by sedate suits, regulars wander about socializing, and everyone seems to be smiling.
