Salt Yard Restaurant is one of our 2012
Hot 10 London Restaurants|
| Confit of pork belly with rosemary-scented cannellini beans; braised ox cheek with polenta and Parmesan; charcuterie and cheese platters; crispy hake with piquillo pepper aïoli; roast scallops with chickpea purée and crispy Serrano; courgette flowers stuffed with goats’ cheese and drizzled with honey; patatas fritas with romesco sauce and aïoli. If you’re not hungry by now, you should be. But wait until you taste the real tapas at Salt Yard. The downside is that it is at a price---small portions range from £3.60 to £8.70. But you are getting top quality ingredients and very skilful preparation. It all takes place in a noisy, crowded, dark wood and red walled venue. The wine list is a real eye-opener as well, particularly if you don’t know some of the most interesting names from Italy and Spain. They pride themselves on charging less than the usual mark-up on top wines, so go here to indulge. |
