House-cured meats, olives and fresh mozzarella sold and served in this Pioneer Square mecca.
When butcher shop-meets-deli-meets café, it’s Armandino Batali at his best. His mission is to preserve the past while promoting pork, which he does with gusto in a large display of house-cured meats, olives and fresh mozzarella. The retail storefront also makes room for the occasional lunch diner. Rustic sandwiches are filled with fresh sausages, braised porchetta seasoned with cracked fennel, or stuffed with meatballs or braised oxtail. Private lunch parties can be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays to partake of a five-course Chef’s Whim menu. Good bread, quality olive oil, a selection of house wines, and interesting conversation complete the experience.
