Bennie Satterwhite’s simple philosophy about Southern food is totally correct: Make it fresh and make it tasty. At this location, which he opened in 1989, a team of cooks prepares the fresh vegetables whose selection varies from day to day, depending on what’s in the market. The focus at this popular caféteria, near the West End Mall and Clark Atlanta University center, is Southern-style fare. Specialties include baked chicken and cornbread dressing, popular at both locations. This location is smaller and offers fewer choices than the Stone Mountain operation, but both feature the good sweet tea and homestyle desserts, without which no Southern supper is complete.
