THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Satterwhite's Southern Feast Restaurant Review:
Bennie Satterwhite’s simple philosophy about Southern food is totally correct: Make it fresh and make it tasty. The Rev. Harold Dennis wears the toque in this spotlessly clean establishment, where $8.95 buys you all you can eat including drink and dessert. (No take-out at this price; however, single-portion take-out is available.) Then find a seat and fill your plate with sweetly gamy, tender roast duck, fried fish with tartar sauce; fried, smothered or baked chicken and cornbread dressing, fresh vegetables--the fresh white shoepeg corn and collard greens are awesome---macaroni and cheese, and creamy red pepper-flecked potato salad. Good sweet tea and a slice of red velvet cake perfect the tradition. Dishes vary from day to day, but the newly offered turkey meatloaf is fast becoming a big hit. No alcohol is served at either location. The original Satterwhite’s Southern Feast is at 851 Oak St., across from West End Mall, at Lee St., 404-756-0963.
