Saucy's BBQ Restaurant Review: If there’s one area where the Greater New Orleans food scene is lacking, it’s barbecue. Saucy’s fills that void in Uptown. Saucy's offers all of the usual suspects: ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and chicken. But some unexpected added treats include a portobello quesadilla and boudin (a type of Cajun sausage popular in Louisiana). The same goes for the sides; yes, you'll find smoked beans, baked macaroni, potato salad and the like, but you can also select grilled asparagus, house-baked sweet potato muffins or Caribbean rice. Your server will bring a choice of half a dozen sauces for your meats, but the house tomato/vinegar-based Carolina-style version is by far the best. Desserts are limited, but there’s a giant chocolate chip cookie that goes with just about anything. This is a BYOB establishment; there’s a most modest five dollar corkage fee for wines.
