Mmmm, Scotch eggs, fish ‘n’ chips, British-style chicken curry. Mmmm---well no, we have to be honest here, haggis is still an acquired taste. But it’s served here with great pride, and that’s what’s so appealing about The Scottish Arms. This tastefully done watering hole and restaurant, full of dark wood and white tiles, claims to have the largest single malt Scotch whiskey selection in town. The avoidance of preciousness is something to be thankful for, given a menu that mixes Caesar salads and haggis. It's not quite authentic---the bangers, for instance, are too flavorful---but if your idea of a good time is a shepherd’s pie with a glass of lager, this definitely is the spot for you. Cranachan, the unusual dessert that's made with whipped cream, oats, fresh fruit and a wee drop of the native drink, is worth a try.
