San Francisco Restaurants

San Francisco and the Bay Area were an integral part of the "food revolution" in the 1970s when the creation of "California Cuisine" changed the way America ate forever. This fusion style of preparing food allowed restaurants to combine cooking styles from all over the globe to create new dining experiences for their visitors. There was also a renewed emphasis on fresh, quality local ingredients that had been replaced in American cooking by the canned and frozen convenience foods born of two world wars and increasingly innovative technology. This return to basics with a twist became the hallmark of San Francisco cuisine and continues to influence restaurants all over the world to this day.
