Seasons 52 Restaurant Review: Seasons 52 at South Coast Plaza presents an invitingly casual design with warm woods and brown leathers. Guests nosh at lunch or dinner in the cozy main dining room, on the outdoor patio, at the bar (with nightly piano), in two private rooms and at a circular chef’s table. Chef Hung Tram oversees the menu, which features lots of signature dishes along with weekly specials based on local, seasonal ingredients, all of which are touted to be under 475 calories. Start with a flatbread such as the crunchy and zesty garlic chicken with balsamic onions and roasted red peppers. At lunch, try the burgers (oak-fired buffalo), sandwiches (roasted vegetables) and entrée salads (barbecue chicken). Dinner entrées include grilled lamb T-bone chops and smoky cedar-plank wild salmon with roasted carrots, asparagus and red potatoes. Most of the options on the wine list can be ordered both by the glass and by the bottle. Service is topnotch; knowledgeable servers can recommend wines and pairings. Seasons 52 also accommodates special dietary needs for organic-only, low-sodium, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals.
