Selma’s Chicago Pizzeria & Tap Room Restaurant Review: This South Orange County venue's allegiance to preparing pizzas in the Chicago style represents a departure for the area’s pizzeria scene, but it's a refreshing change. Co-owner Mike Phillips' grandmother, Selma, provided most of the recipes, and his father founded BJ's Pizzeria, so it's no wonder this restaurant has been popular from day one. Selma's further distinguishes itself with made-from-scratch sauces and one-pound ravioli. Besides the pizza, which is a must, there are Buffalo wings, Italian-influenced sandwiches, soups, salads, appetizers, pastas, desserts and even a gluten-free menu. Parties are accommodated with hot pies and an arcade room. The Tap Room, an adjacent beer and wine bar, offers more than 50 different beers, with 20 on tap and one cask. Also located at 218 Avenida del Mar, San Clemente, 949-276-2828; 27702 Crown Valley Pkwy. #E1, Ladera Ranch, 949-388-7260; and 31781 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, 949-429-3599.
