Serious Pie Restaurant Review

: This cozy, dark pizzeria from chef/restaurateur Tom Douglas is packed with tall wood tables and filled with a subtle aroma from the wood-fired oven. Choose from sophisticated toppings --- sweet fennel sausage and roasted peppers, or Penn Cove clams with house-made pancetta --- to anoint the slightly burnt, blistered crusts; the lighter texture offers just the right amount of structure. For a milder bite, consider a pie with foraged mushrooms and truffle cheese. Seasonal starters can include lacinato kale salad with Calabrian chiles, pine nuts and Parmesan. Although the beer selection is small, there's an array of wines. Sweet endings include cannoli with black currants and plum conserve.
