Serious Pie Restaurant Review

: Chef/restaurateur Tom Douglas does pizza unlike anyone else at Serious Pie. Diners pack tall wood tables in the dark, cozy space that fills with a subtle aroma from the wood-fired oven. Choose from sophisticated toppings --- sweet fennel sausage and roasted peppers, or Penn Cove clams with house-made pancetta --- to anoint the slightly burnt, blistered crusts; the lighter texture offers just the right amount of structure. For a milder bite, consider a pie with foraged mushrooms and truffled cheese. Seasonal starters could be a lacinato kale salad with Calabrian chiles, pine nuts and Parmesan. Although the beer selection is small, there's an array of appealing wines. Sweet endings include house-made cannoli with black currants and plum conserve.
