Shame on the Moon Restaurant Review

: This warm, welcoming restaurant with its busy main room and quiet patio has been serving desert patrons classic continental cuisine since 1983. The menu features everything from wild mushroom ravioli to sautéed calf’s liver, plus homemade veal meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled filet mignon with blue cheese glaze and Cabernet sauce. Start with the steamed-spinach napoleon and finish with one of the house-made desserts that include crème brûlée. During summer, there is a Sunday through Friday bargain prix-fixe menu.

Slightly disappointed

Visiting Palm Desert for the first time, we searched for restaurants and came across this one. It looked fabulous yet reasonably priced so we reserved a table. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted. Walking to our table, I felt excited about the meal. It's a beautifully decorated. Once seated it started slowly going down. It took almost 10 minutes to get our menu. The avocado stuffed with lobster appetizer was flat. It looked wonderful but there was no depth. The mushroom soup was flavorless. I had the Ahi Tuna. Expectations were dashed when I took my first bite. It was overcooked, certainly not what I would consider rare. More like Medium. The roasted garlic mashed potatoes wasn't what I expected either. It lacked taste. It looked pretty on the plate but that's it. The service and atmosphere were wonderful, but the food experience was just "okay" and not I certainly wasn't "wow'd". If I were to visit the Palm Desert area again, this would probably not be a choice I would make to visit again.
