THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Shorty Goldstein's Restaurant Review

: A simple wood and subway-tile counter greets you at the door while a chalkboard painted wall shows the house cured, brined, smoked or pickled offerings of the day. With the exception of the bagels and rye bread for the sandwiches, everything is made on site from locally sourced ingredients. If you favor assertive flavor, opt for the pastrami, which delivers a smokiness distinctly unlike most New York variants. Corned beef provides a milder meat. Potato salad is infused with crunchy and herbaceous greens, and coleslaw is precisely executed. Pickles, salads and fillings for stuffed cabbage and rugelach all vary seasonally dictated by what's in market. There's a long bar along an exposed brick wall if you want a seat to eat, but most Financial District lunchers grab their meal to go.
