Silver's Restaurant in Southampton has been family-owned and -operated for three generations. The somewhat cramped space comprises a bar with about a half-dozen seats, and small tables along the yellow walls lined with pastel portraits (painted by chef/owner Garrett Wellins' mother Bess Wellins). Silver's is only open for lunch and is renowned for its soups. Diners can expect to find the mainstay lobster bisque among the selections, which also include a creamy French potato-leek. The brief, pricey menu changes often, depending on what's in season, but options might include a grilled baby octopus salad or a French picnic sandwich including pâté, Brie, grapes and cornichons on a baguette. Heartier choices like roast duck leg confit or crab cakes are fine choices to warm up in winter. The short wine list primarily features labels from France and Napa. Service is friendly.
