Sirocco Pizza Company (SPC) Restaurant Review:

Sirocco Pizza Company, or SPC for short, at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa has a high-octane energy and a Viva Italia vibe. The wood-burning oven churns out slightly charred Neapolitan-style pizzas in mere seconds, with toppings that range from shrimp and pancetta to fresh mozzarella and organic farm eggs. But the menu offers more than just pizza. For starters, try the garlic knots made from the same dough as the hand-tossed pies, brushed with butter and doused in garlic. They’re served with a side of marinara for dipping. Pastas include the braised, grass-fed-short rib ravioli tossed in a Chianti demi-glace, as well as the flavorful linguine and clams. The caprese salad had the usual heirloom tomatoes, sea salt and basil, but buffalo mozzarella was replaced with a creamy burrata. For dessert, local dates are used to create a sticky toffee chocolate bread pudding with a salted caramel gelato. While the resort no longer has a traditional formal dining option, SPC seems to appeal to a broader palate.
