| The brawny, timbered tables at Smokey’s Kitchen provide a good platform for tucking into beef back ribs, St. Louis ribs and chicken, beef brisket, and shredded pork by the pound. Among barbecue sides we like the tangy baked beans and crisp, puffy homemade fries, but the cakey cornbread won’t be dry enough for purists. We also recommend wraps stuffed with garlicky Caesar salad and chicken, beef, pork or salmon. Smokey’s extensive breakfast menu includes omelets, Grand Marnier french toast and a burrito filled with beans, egg, cheese, chilies and machaca (Mexican beef jerky). The sundae selection seems a bit odd in a barbecue joint, but what the heck: after the kids get sticky with barbecue sauce, they can get stickier with ice cream. |
