Sofra Bakery & Cafe Restaurant Review: Sofra is the brainchild of Ana Sortun, the force behind Oleana. It is a more casual spot, with drums for tables and hard wooden benches best softened with a pillow (and there are plenty floating around). Place your order at the counter, and try to beat off the Cambridge yummy-mummy set for a stool. If you do manage to snag a spot, you'll be handsomely rewarded---for this is the type of food that's made for savoring. Brightly colored mezze from the hummus bar (we're fans of the electric-pink beet tzatziki), savory pita sandwiches, and bracing Turkish coffee combine for a tasty pit stop any time of day. There's also a full complement of sweet breakfast items and a truly luscious fried egg pooled in a zingy sumac and tomato sauce. There's also a small shelf with prepackaged mezze and sweets for those who just can't find a table. |
