Sofra Bakery & Cafe Restaurant Review

: Sofra is the brainchild of Ana Sortun, the force behind Oleana, so fans know this is not going to be a traditional bakery. It is a casual spot, with drums for tables and hard wooden benches best softened with a pillow (plenty are floating around). Place your order at the counter and try to outmaneuver the Cambridge yummy-mummy set for a stool. If you do manage to snag one, you'll be handsomely rewarded at this "picnic" (the translation of Sofra), for this is the type of food that's made for savoring. Brightly colored meze from the hot meze and hummus bar (try the grape leaves filled with dill, pine nuts and onions), stuffed flatbreads, sausage pita, spinach falafel, lamb shwarma and bracing Turkish coffee or house-made chai combine for a tasty pit stop any time of day. There's also a full complement of sweet breakfast items, like apple date cake and pistachio pop tarts.
